Our field trip from about 10 days ago!  It took a little longer to upload these pix as I was having some technical difficulties with my phone! The students were wonderful and very well behaved with their chaperones!  We have a truly wonderful group of boys and girls:-)

Dear Parents,

On Monday, November 24, from 10:45-11:30 we will be having a “Thanksgiving Feast” to celebrate the people and things we are thankful for this season.  Since we will be eating in the classroom, and not the lunchroom, there is no need to bring a lunch on that day.  We will have all the traditional fixings along with a Thanksgiving story or two! J  Unfortunately, due to the space in our classroom, we will have to limit ONE SPECIAL guest per student. (Hot items can be sent in crock pots, casserole dishes, etc.)  Thank you in advance and we hope you can come!

Below is a list of things we will need to make our feast complete.  If you wish to participate and help, please circle the things you would like to donate.  We will contact you if we have need to coordinate further. Please return tomorrow.J

Indoor Recess Fun!

This is what indoor recess looks like when it's too cold to go outside.  They have so much fun being creative!  They also do a great job cleaning up when recess is over. :)

The Magic Hat

This month we are studying the author Mem Fox.  We read the book The Magic Hat.  In this book the characters put on magic hats and turn into animals.  The students got a chance to draw their own magic hats and write about what animal they would like to be.

Field Trip this FRIDAY!

·         Pack a sack lunch and a disposable drink (no lunch boxes)

·         Wear a bright colored shirt for the butterfly garden

·         Spray on some perfume or cologne to attract the butterfliesJ

·         Wear comfortable shoes

·         Bring a small bag with some things for the bus ride!  (Books to read, notebook, pencils, or hand-held game)

·         Be on time for school….the bus leaves promptly at 8:00 AM

·         CHAPERONES: Please arrive by 7:45/7:50 to receive your group assignment and museum map

Happy Halloween!

The students got to wrap each other like mummies today.  They had one minute to wrap their partner like a mummy and if the toilet paper ripped they had to start over.  They quickly learned they couldn't pull too hard or go too fast.  We did this a couple times so students could be the mummy and the wrapper.  Thank you to those of you who supplied toilet paper, snacks, drinks, paper plates, and napkins for our celebration today.  We had a fun day!

Mystery Reader!

This morning the students had a special surprise--a mystery reader!  Aaron's grandpa, Mr. Jerry Kiel, shared three clues about himself that I shared with the class before he entered the room.  The students guessed who was waiting in the hall to read to them.  With the last clue, "My grandkids call me G-pa." Aaron guessed that it was his grandpa.  Mr. Kiel read a story that he wrote himself and the message of the story was that friends are the best gift of all.  The students loved it.
